Snow Day!

Posted on Tuesday March 07, 2017 at 09:33AM

When you work from a home office, snow day has a different meaning than when one must commute. My morning started like most do, I get up at 5:30 a.m., do a little research, read and share the posts I like, stick my tongue out at the posts I think are stupid, scan the rest and drink at least two cups of coffee. This morning, it is Kick Ass...(the brand of coffee, not the motive)...and this morning most of the posts have to do with the weather. We are experiencing the worst blizzard of the season to date.

The mister and I are of two different mindsets when it comes to a blizzard that results in traffic not recommended all over the southeast end. Consequently, you couldn't pay me enough to venture off the deck, and he left to go into work. Enough whining on my part meant he waited awhile before he went in, but he still went. Brave? Maybe. I resist the urge to stick my tongue out at him as he leaves. Hopefully the men will hang out where it is safe and warm, but I don't trust those guys once they get together. Eventually, one or more of them will consider that it doesn't look so bad, and will give it a try.

Maybe the difference is that I don't have to go anywhere in order to make a living. Maybe I would feel differently but its been so many years that I'm not sure you could pay me enough to make me go out on this snow day.  I used to go out in all conditions before I scared myself. As a self-confessed wimp it didn't take much to convince me that the whole world is safer if I stay off roads that are glare ice. Emergency rescue is likely grateful for my contribution to their day, even if they don't know that they should be grateful. Of course, I am grateful too, for an office less than a 30 second commute down the hallway from the kitchen.
